CHINESE NEW YEAR 2016 – YEAR OF THE MONKEY

The Year of the Monkey, which officially starts on Monday February 8, covers people born in
1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992 and 2004 as well as babies born in the next 12
months.

According to Chinese zodiac, the Monkey is smart, lively and quick-witted. They are gentle  and
honest, but they can also be jealous and short-tempered.

Tea Leaf Readings & Fortune Cookies

Tea Leaf readings

Tea leaf readings take 5-10 mins per person. The tea leaf reader needs be seated at a table with 2
chairs to put the cups and teapot on and to provide more comfort/ privacy for your guests.
The reader will dress their table and themselves according to the theme of your event.
The tea leaf reader uses jasmine loose tea as this is like small twigs. You place a couple of
spoonfuls in an empty cup and the dry tea leaves are read.
Shapes and images are shown in the tea which is interpreted for you. The tea leaves can also be
read the old fashioned English way… make your cup of tea with loose tea- do not use a tea
strainer. Drink the tea- leaving the dredges at the bottom. Turn the cup around 3 times and turn
upside down onto a saucer. Then turn the cup back up and the resulting pattern is read.
Very intriguing and this reading went down very well at the ‘Harry Potter launch party’ held at the
Natural History museum.

 Fortune Cookies

Fortune cookies can be supplied either on their own or with someone in chinese dress to hand them out. each cookie contains a message or prediction. Very popular.

I Ching

I Ching the client throws the coins or chooses 3. An ancient means of divination used by the Chinese to forecast for the new year.

Mahjong

Mahjong is a game played in China but also used for divination. The client shuffles the tiles, chooses 8 and the reader tells there future for the next year.

shape, the profile of the nose and shape and size and colour or lips and eyes, as well as eyebrows
and hair.This method was recently used at a trade show to ask if the clients ‘face fitted’ their
product. It was very successful and the client won best stand at the show because of the constant
attention the face reader received.The interpretation can be written of pre-printed cards with your
company logo for guests to take away. Great when teamed up with a caricaturist who can also then
supply the guests with a cartoon of themselves.

Palmistry – Palm Readings

Palm readings take 5-10 mins per person or longer if required. This can be done mix and mingle either standing with guests or around dinner tables or the Palmist can be seated at a table with 2 chairs to
provide more comfort/ privacy for your guests. The palmist will dress their table and themselves according to the theme of your event. By looking at the shape and lines and mounds on the hand, the
palmist can see what kind of life you have led, are leading and what kind of person you are.
The reading relates entirely to you and reveals what kind of job you are best suited to and what you are like in relationships. It can tell if there are marriages and children in your life. It can’t tell about anyone else such as lovers or children, as the palmist would need to see their hands for that information.
Palmists have noticed that people in the same type of job often have the same type of hand.
